i hate myself debuted in 1997 in Gainsville, Florida on the No Idea record lable.

the band, first active in the mid-to-late 90s, was part of the Gainesville and central Florida punk scene. the band was formed by two brothers along with a few other members. by 2005, when they released their latest LP "Three Songs", they were pretty much completely dissolved and the band has not reunited since a single show in 2016 for the release of a book about Gainesville punk.

i hate myself stands out among other screamo bands due to its excellent guitar riffs, lyrics, and use of screaming.

this has cemented itself as one of my favorite bands. the standouts are definitely 10 songs and 4 songs.
